Interact 2008

23 Jun

Finally the Big Guns are coming to town. Interact 2008 is happening in Washington, D.C. on September 29th and 30th. Everyone from AKQA, R/GA, Google, Threespot Media, Avenue A/ Razofish, etc. will be there. They’re expecting 1000 people to attend.

Rarely do we get these kinds of events in this area, so I really hope my boss lets me go.

Colonial Williamsburg Built This City

14 Jun

This had me in tears. These dudes actually make me wanna go visit Colonial Williamsburg. I would love it if CW used this in banners or started a contest that encouraged people to come up with their own videos. This could make young peeps interested in visiting.

Reality television rocks sometimes.

Get The Dirt On Companies

13 Jun

Thanks to Glassdoor.com people can get the inside scoop about your company as well as what your company pays before they even go to an interview. Talk about empowering workers. Now interviewees will have the upper hand. It looks like this site is really dominant in San Francisco for now. But if it catches on, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

BLIK + NINTENDO = BIG SMILE

13 Jun

Blik is rockin’ it hard with its new Nintendo sticker decals. I’ve been a huge Blik fan for years. And now that they have their new Nintendo line, I can’t wait to put these suckers up in my son’s nursery. It’s going to be cool as hell.

And I’m seriously thinking of putting up the Donkey King stickers in my office. How a*w*e*s*o*m*e would that be? And now that I think about it, I should talk to my boss about decorating our wii room with these stickers, too. 🙂

Oodle.com

11 Jun

Walmart has partnered with Oodle.com and is getting ready to compete against Craigslist. Check out the site. It reminds me of eBay’s Kajiji. What do you think?

Think Judges Are Tough?

11 Jun

Try getting your work evaluated by users. That’s what many marketers are willing to do. They’re braving it up and throwing caution to the wind. They’re letting users judge their ads on social sites. Is that smart or just plain crazy?

The 2008 ADDYs. Flashback!

11 Jun

This is a short video about the 2008 DC ADDYs. This was one of the last big projects I worked on before going on maternity leave last year.

The Girl Effect Is Making A Difference

11 Jun

Wieden + Kennedy just created this simple little spot for a good cause. What I like about the spot is that they didn’t go down the usual route and show me some sick, starving kid with flies swarming all around. Instead, they made me use my imagination to see a sick, starving girl with flies swarming around.

I really dig the overall design and type.See the Girl Effect for yourself.

Nintendo Wii Wins the Grand Effie

11 Jun

Nintendo came back from the dead and rocked it like a bad-ass mamajama. Everyone I know owns the wii. The product itself is so easy to use, everyone can play. Even grandparents. I think the campaign helped people realize how easy and fun the wii is. Check out an interview with Lars Bastholm about the Wiinner.

Take A Test Drive On Google Maps

11 Jun

Now that Google Maps works with flash applications, it’s pretty cool what this Japanese dude created. Take a test drive right on Google Maps. You can pick a car, a bus, or even a truck. Too bad, there’s no train option. This would be awesome for Amtrak. Heck, it would be awesome for any car manufacturer, too.

What’s nice is the application lets you drive over the entire image. So go crazy if you want. Drive over a building or run off the road. It doesn’t matter.
